Energy Efficient near net zero construction.
My clients found a lot with abandoned but well built foundation. We used the existing foundation to save on the budget, but it meant squeezing the program of their dream house fit on the small foot print. The house feels expansive because of the long sight lines to the surrounding views and windows placed to capture the light. We add foundation for the two car garage and connecting breezeway/mudroom. The house is thermally tight, with thick well-insulated walls and roof and added insulation to the existing foundation. It is heated with a furnace/heat pump combination and mechanically ventilated. Added energy comes from the solar panels.
