Melissa Gough Fletcher AIA founded MGF Designs in 1996 in San Francisco to focus on designing houses. Melissa always had a passion for art, math, and building growing up and chose the School of Architecture at the University of Virginia for her undergraduate work and UC Berkeley for a Master’s in Architecture. Before graduate school, Melissa worked for a couple of years in small architecture firms, on construction crews, and as a landsurveyor’s assistant in Virginia and Nantucket to get a good understanding of the trades. After graduate school, Melissa worked at BAR in San Francisco for several years specializing in affordable and elderly housing. Before moving her business to Vermont in 2008, she spent seven years living in Belgium sketching, traveling, working on projects, and raising two boys.

Melissa listens to her clients and tailors each project to the their needs an to the site conditions, offering a comprehensive approach to all phases of architecture and design. Melissa has been certified in both the American and European Passive house systems, and in LEED. She combines all her experiences in her design approach and architectural philosophy for a clean, comfortable, well-lit, well-liked home.

Melissa enjoys traveling, sketching, sailing, crossfit, and sports for every season.
